Wakanda Forever

Chadwick Boseman has passed. Two thoughts:

• We have lost an exceptional performer. Boseman’s record is varied and remarkable, and it is devastating to contemplate what the future of his acting and writing careers might have produced.
• Boseman’s most famous role, although not his most notable, is as Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is difficult to imagine that the producers of the MCU can find someone who can occupy the role AND overcome the instinctual rejection of a replacement. The MCU has been extraordinarily fortunate to avoid a disaster like this thus far, but Boseman’s passing hits right at the heart of the franchise.
