Of course the fascism coming out of the White House is replicated in the states, those good ol’ laboratories of democracy.
TN will make it a felony to set up overnight protests at state Capitol. Use of violence to intimidate voters, child abuse, spousal abuse, sexual contact w/ minor by authority figure are misdemeanors. That the Tennessee Republican Party would punish Black Lives Matter protestors more harshly than teachers diddling children seems predetermined at this point.
Under an 1881 law still on the books, though it was amended in 1989, it is only a Class A misdemeanor when a sheriff “willfully … allows a prisoner to be taken from the jail … and put to death by violence.”
Of course.
