To correct Gladwell, you do not, under any circumstances, “gotta default to truth” after an assistant coach directly tells you that he has seen your former defensive coordinator (who you know has been investigated before, and you also know was never given offers to be a head coach despite being the top coordinator for a highly successful program that won primarily with defense) sexually assaulting a young boy. Nor do you have to take crank conspiracy theorists seriously because they can provide an illustration for your latest silly reductive pop-psychology theory.
