You may remember J.D. Vance, the Yale Law-educated vigrin blood harvester for Peter Thiel who became the media voice of poor white Appalachia (not to mention random subjects he knows nothing about). The historian Elizabeth Catte has a new corrective, What You Are Getting Wrong About Appalachia, that I’ll be reading and reporting back on.
