Some Tuesday links re: the horrific California shootings…

  • Ophelia Benson has some interesting thoughts on reaction to the reaction to the shootings here and here and here.
  • Amanda Marcotte talks about the vile the phrase “friend zone”. I actually think she’s uncharacteristically measured on the subject. I honestly find the idea of a “friend zone” being a thing aneurysm-inducing. Although perhaps I’m being unreasonable. I know every time I talk to a woman I’m thinking “She’d be more interesting with a dick in her mouth.”  No, seriously: if you’ve ever used the phrase “friend zone,” you  should probably go the route of Fragile Frankie, and go dig yourself a hole and cry in it.
  • A man who has probably undergone extreme body modification in order to accommodate frenzied sex with a double-barreled guns, Joe the Plumber, has also undergone extreme conscience modification so he can write this:

I am sorry you lost your child. I myself have a son and daughter and the one thing I never want to go through, is what you are going through now. But:

As harsh as this sounds – your dead kids don’t trump my Constitutional rights.

We still have the Right to Bear Arms and I intend to continue to speak out for that right, and against those who would restrict it – even in the face of this horrible incident by this sad and insane individual. I almost said “Obama Voter” but I’m waiting for it to be official.

Oh, but you did just say “Obama voter,” asshole. And “insane?” Well, it’s nice to know that Joe the Plumber is also Joe the Psychiatrist. I guess that that makes Joe “uniquely American,” as he is not just plumber and a psychiatrist, but also a professional attention whore. That’s 3 jobs! W approves.
