Novak Moves On

“Thunder” Bob Novak has passed. Not to speak ill of the dead, but I recall that even my conservative, 16 year old self couldn’t manage to muster much respect for him; on Capital Gang and the McLaughlin Group he was just so obviously outgunned by Pat Buchanan as to seem almost irrelevant. That said, I do in some relevant sense miss the days when I could still look forward to the panel shows; Capital Gang was fine, but I would get almost giddy in anticipation of McLaughlin. Whatever his faults, Bob Novak will always be part of that pleasant memory.
