Resolution: Keep sounding like an idiot
Althouse, 8:17 am January 1:
Write shorter blog posts. Blog posts will be as short as I can make them. Crisp! Honed with a sharp edge. Look out.
And 22 hours later, amid a staggering, petulant 2602-word post, half of which is comprised of block quotations from Jonathan Adler, Dan Drezner, Jacob Levy and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest:
All [Drezner’s] really got is the assertion that he doesn’t like pragmatism. It’s too atheoretical and normative. But pragmatism is a theory, whether you like it or not. And the demand for normativity is also theoretical. That I don’t write blog posts in the style of academic theorizing doesn’t mean I couldn’t if I wanted to.
Like Enron’s accountants and various gibbering authoritarians, Althouse is attempting to book profits that haven’t yet been realized.
