Stewart vs. Hitch
You knew this was going to be good. Stewart has been outstanding all week, but tonight he was divine:
Hitch: I’m sorry, Sunshine, I just watched you ridicule the President for saying that he wouldn’t give a timetable. . .
Stewart: No, you’ve misunderstood why. . . That’s not why I ridicule the President. Why I ridicule the President is that he refuses to answer questions from adults as though we were adults, and falls back upon platitudes and phrases and talking points that do a disservice to the goals that he himself shares with the very people he needs to convince.
Stewart handled Hitch. He knew just the right questions to ask, and just the right way to react to Hitch’s talking points.
Goddamn, why is the best we’ve got stuck doing fake news on Comedy Central? Or, put differently, why is the best journalist in America on Comedy Central?
