Life is Like…a Pudding Pop
Add me to the draft Ehrenreich campaign. This is one damn fine column. With the Repubs starting to fire up their “class warfare” crap against Edwards, it’s important to remember who is actually waging class war in this country.
As for who to jettison, not really much of a question to me. Bill Safire has moved beyond hack to something much more amusing. David Brooks is pretty bad, but I suppose we need to keep him around for some semblance of “balance”. Kristof is tolerable when he isn’t off buying orphans, and Dowd has the occasional decent column. Krugman is god.
Who is the useless one, here? Why, none but the man who made my list of “Ten People Who Most Need a Savage Beating” four years running, Tom Friedman. He probably won’t be unemployed for long, since I’m sure he still has connections to all those Indian software programmers who supply him with witty anecdotes. If they can give him a chapter in “The Lexus and the Olive Tree,” I’m sure they can help him find work.
The most frightening thing is that we get Ehrenreich because Tom is off writing a book. I hope he mentions his six or seven different positions on the Iraq War, which appeared over the course of six or seven consecutive columns. I doubt he will, of course. Hack.
