Celebrity Candidate Showdown: Springer vs. the Gropenator
Jerry Springer is contemplating running for Governor of Ohio in 2006. As this article shows, responses are mixed from Ohio Democrats. I don’t have any comment on his viability, but I wanted to join Robert Bennett in identifying differences between Springer and the GOP’s successful novelty celeb Governor, Mr. Schwarzenegger:
“Arnold Schwarzenegger, action hero, is not the same as Jerry Springer, pushing sleaze on the television,” said Robert Bennett, the chairman of the Ohio Republican Party.
Fair enough. I’ll add a few more worthy comparisons of the two novelty celebrity politicians:
Jerry Springer, a TV show host who often discusses unseemly public sexual behavior with his guests, is not the same as Arnold Schwarzenegger, who actually engages in such behavior.
For that matter, when Jerry Springer feels the need for some, er, contact with women, he’s willing to pay the asking price for it, rather than just grabbing whomever’s within arm’s reach.
