By Governor Tina Kotek of Oregon and others staved off the invasion of Texas National Guard, but Illinois and Chicago weren’t as lucky in court, partly because ICE has caused enough trouble there to, uh, justify sending in the National Guard. Or maybe just a different judge.
Protesters are by and large doing a good job of not escalating violence. In Portland, they are using humor.
Kristi Noem came to Portland to observe a dozen or so protesters including a guy in a chicken suit. She didn’t have her usual uniform for cosplay. Weak showing.
It’s all about power. Stephen Miller was all over the teevee Monday to tell us to be very afraid, but he disappeared on Tuesday. Maybe someone in the administration realized that his slavering for dictatorship and general demeanor weren’t doing them any good.
