Press the Meat
By The incomparable Bob Somerby notes many embarrassingly false and/or stupid comments from Tim Russert’s appearance on Larry King this week, but I’d have to say that this is the best:
RUSSERT: One other political point: The Republicans achieved control of the United States Congress for the first time in 70 years, of both houses, under Ronald Reagan.
Remember, this man, who apparently has no grasp of even the most basic political facts (it’s not as if the Gingrich takeover of the House in ’94 is a trivial, little-remembered event) is making millions of dollars a year as a political journalist, and is given endless amounts of time to flog a sea of treacle in the rough form of a “book.” King would do just as well getting his political analysis from the police psychics he has on.
