When Civil War Reenactors Shoot Themselves With Their Old-Timey Weapons

My contempt for the historical reenactor community knows no bounds. History is not about playing dress up and pretending you are in the past, especially given how the reenacting community largely erases the role of social conflict in wars. That’s particularly offensive in Civil War reenacting since the war was about treason in defense of slavery and reenacting is largely the purview of white guys who love guns, not exactly my favorite demographic. So I was highly amused when this dipshit Civil War reenactor shot himself with a minie ball. Lucky for him, he only shattered his arm. If he was actually committed to the art, he would have allowed himself to have his arm amputated with a rusty saw and then die of blood poisoning. Coward.
