emails

I’m sure Jason Chaffetz will get right on this:

Remember how Donald Trump hammered on Hillary Clinton for using a private email server during her tenure as Secretary of State? During the election, Trump went as far as wanting to put “Crooked Hillary” behind bars, because having staffers use emails not monitored by the government could be a bad thing. But according to a new report from Newsweek, key Trump staffers are using accounts running on the Republican National Committee’s private email server.

I mock Chaffetz, but he was advancing his partisan interests. What’s appalling is the media using the occasion of a presidential election campaign to pretend that email server management was a question of the highest urgency. And, of course, while this “scandal” was trivial bullshit from soup to nuts, even Clinton supporters felt obligated to furrow their brows, or argue that of course Hillary Clinton should have anticipated that email server management would dominate coverage of the 2016 campaign. Whether the media can be compelled to change is an open question, but certainly “stop hitting yourself” seems like a start at least.

…and, yes, Trump is still using an unsecured Android phone.
