Binders
After last night’s debates, people began writing reviews of binders available on Amazon. Some of these reviews are high-quality comedy. An example:
As a woman, I’m not adept at making decisions that concern me. So when I need the right choice, I turn to the presidential candidate that KNOWS. One with prideful experience in this department. I don’t want to be filed away in an inferior & confusing electronic doohickey that I couldn’t possibly understand. Or heaven forbid, have a man ask for & listen to my ideas! I’d much rather rely on this top of the line, 1980s style, Avery Durable binder. It’s the choice America can trust. My education, my ideas, my opinions, my choices, please PLEASE keep them safely stored away here and far away from the men that might fear them (I mean, want to use them to hire me somedaynever). I’d write more about this most useful product, but it’s time I hurry home to make dinner.
If any of you amateur comedians out there have not finished snickering over Romney’s haphazard attempt to show his outreach to women, I know of where more comedy gold can be mined. Dig up the 60s lighthearted comedy The Trouble With Angels, maybe it’s on video somewhere. There is a scene in the flick where the nuns take the suddenly maturing schoolgirls on a field trip to a department store lingerie shop to get fitted for their binders. A few more chuckles are there just waiting to be had at Mitt’s expense.
What are the odds that someone will take that lady’s review seriously?
Zero.
No. Wait. I forgot about the MRAs. I’m sure they will miss the point entirely.
I wonder if this was on of the “zingers” that Mittens was going to use to reduce Obama to tears?
When faced with the daily drumbeat of misogyny, mockery is perhaps a better choice than mayhem. The cutesy lady pens got an excellent work over on Amazon UK also.
