Banana Republic Stores to Open in Panama and Colombia
I’m not sure if this is a very good idea.
I know I look forward to them spreading across Honduras and Nicaragua. Maybe they can sell shirts emblazoned with images of the lifeless body of Augusto Sandino.
You can get complete access to our long trench coat, short trench coat and best leather jackets. Our heated motorcycle gloves and bike clothing give you 100% guarantee.

Maybe they’ll call the stores something else, like Yankee Go Home or So Far from God.
Maybe those countries can call their stores, “Welcome to the Club, USA!”
Yeah I was thinking bedizen the shirts with imaged of Dead George Bush and it might go better … there AND here ;)
Beat me to it.
In related news, the popular South American clothing store “Yankee Imperialist Outfitters” will be opening stores in New York, LA and Washington DC.
So long as Hitlers department store doesnt open a branch in NYNY
I remember a Blockbuster Video outlet opening up in Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin, in about October 1997.
It had very little business and closed a couple of months later.
I wonder if Corporate Headquarters ever figured out why “Blockbuster” was not a very good name for a business in Germany.
Why not, Erik? They’ve got hundreds of branches in the biggest banana republic in the New World!
They could sell T-shirts ironically celebrating the accomplishments of the United Fruit Company for Latin American hipsters.
lmao! perfect!
*sigh*
In good news, rioters won’t have to make hard decisions about what storefront to hit first.
Ha ha
Perhaps better now than when they were selling “authentic leather bandoliers”.
Maybe they could sell a complete outfit called the “Alfonso Bedoya”.
Shoes optional.

Or how about this: Banana Republic- Now We’re Everywhere!
This will be as a great of hit in Latin America as the urban legend of the Chevy Nova in Mexico.
I saw Clear and Present Danger in 10th run movie theater in Honduras. It was pretty awkward when both the good and bad Americans would shot up Central American characters like they were extras on The A-Team. Awkward! They do have a nice botanical gardens in outside Tela, Honduras that used to actually be a banana plantation. Lancetilla Botanical Garden is a beautiful spot, as is the Caribbean coast of Honduras.

Dead Sandino shirt? Well, I’d buy that. I went looking for a T-shirt in Havana during the Elian situation and saw a very limited selection. I asked, “Do you have any shirts with Fidel?” “No.” “Raül?” “Only Che.” No Banana Republics in Cuba, but they do have Benetton.
