CATS!!!
And now we’re to the end. Frankly, I was surprised that any of the 139 entries still stood a chance of victory, given the grave and disturbing events of the last two weeks. As it is, the breakdown goes as follows:
If Kentucky wins, Mixing Memory wins the LGM Challenge. If UConn wins, Luke8398 takes the title. If UConn beats Kentucky and loses to the peasantry, wasserst 1 takes the crown. If Kentucky beats UConn but loses the title game, I believe Mixing Memory will tie Pickled Tink, after which tiebreakers will ensue.
… And regarding the Cats, obviously I have a professional interest. Nevertheless, there would good reasons to expect success from this year’s team. The combination of youth and experience, plus a coach familiar with the NCAA tournament, made them a reasonable selection. I am not at all surprised that they’re in the Final Four this year.

I don’t know why UCLA gets so little respect around here.
VCU, Butler, UConn, and Inevitably Vacated.
I set the over/under date at July, 2013.
Crap. There are apparently two “Lawyers, Guns, and Money” groups, and I joined the wrong one somehow. Because I’m winning that one, but it’s not yours. Damn it. (I wouldn’t be winning this one, though.)
@Charles Pierce
Beat me to it. Calipari’s recruits may be victims of an unjust system, but on average he’s monetized more successfully than they have.
I’m still hoping for some miracle to catapult me out of 89th place and into the lead. Maybe’s the other 88 brackets will literally catch fire or something.
Did anyone have Butler and VCU in the Final Four?
Apparently two out of 5.9 million ESPN entries got the final four right.
It is sort of liberating to be out of it– now I can watch free from worrying about my bracket, rooting for the story, as the sportswriters say.
My picks, made based on the “Who do I know who goes or went there” system did better than I usually do by trying to reason it out, so it’s all good.
Being similarly situated, I was going to root for Butler to finish what it started last year. Then VCU and I looked up their alumni (my friend and I were debating whether Ben Wallace went there; my friend was right that he went to Virginia Union) and discovered that VCU was home to Iron & Wine and GWAR. So now my rooting interest is for some kind of I&W/GWAR collaboration on a fight song.

Please stop trying to break my brain.
I lost the entire Southeast Regional on the first weekend. Thanks, Michigan State.

With 680 pts and a rank of 149,196 I’d say that I pretty much kicked Obama’s ass (Old Dribbler Dawgs in the LGM contest)
What’s the over/under on Cal’s NCAA sanctions for recruiting?
Wait, this isn’t an All Your Base reference?
ah, the
, how dare they invade the genteel realm of the NCAA tournament! don’t they know it’s reserved for BCS schools?
i expect whoever wins the butler/vcu semi-final, will come into the champioship game bearing pitchforks and lit torches. i’m putting my money on vcu, with the drubbings they’ve given all but florida so far. too bad both of them couldn’t be in the final, that would be a game worth watching.
