The Most Worthless Commenter in Liberal Land

There’s a fundamental difference between Charlie Kirk and Ezra Klein. If someone shot Ezra Klein, Kirk would have found it hilarious, as he found the near assassination of Nancy Pelosi’s husband hilarious. But when someone shoots Charlie Kirk, Klein shows up in the New York Times to say that Kirk did things “the right way.”
It’s hard for me to better state the difference between how the Trump movement and mainstream Democrats not only understand politics but understand how to win in politics. This doesn’t even get into the “neoliberalism in a new package” abundance agenda that demonstrates no understanding of how neoliberalism went wrong, etc that Klein is pushing like an acid dealer at a Phish show. None of this in any way remotely says that anyone should be lauding Kirk’s assassination. But there are many ways not to respond and Klein definitely fills one of those slots. Liberals are so desperate to go back to the norms of old and Klein represents that very much, as do a lot of folks around here. But it’s never going to happen. The norms are dead. They are never returning.
