Lots of happy talk from TACO Don and his golfing buddy Steve Witkoff about how they have this business about Iran’s nuclear program all wrapped up, but today the State Department is ordering all embassies within striking distance of Iran to convene Emergency Action Committees to assess and mitigate risks. The Defense Department has authorized the departure of family members from installations across the Middle East.

The IAEA released a report saying that Iran had increased its stock of 60% enriched uranium. Bibi Netanyahu, who wants the spotlight off Gaza and has wanted to drag the US into a war against Iran for a very long time, released a statement on Saturday.

That post is from an ongoing thread with information about the situation. Evergreen Intel is reliable, but I think it’s prudent to regard much of what’s now available as not entirely confirmed.

It shouldn’t need to be said, but Israel is incapable of carrying out a war against Iran by itself. Netanyahu may have some idea that he’s going to eliminate the Iranian nuclear sites, including those burrowed far into mountains, or he may just be itching to start that war that the United States will have to finish. And Iran is much larger, much better prepared than Iraq was.

I’ll say another thing again. Iran has no intention of building a nuclear weapon, except in extremis. An attack by Israel would be that extreme event.
