Scott and I are going to keep posting about this until they stop. The New Yorker gets in on the RFK sanewashing:

The trouble—and the opportunity—with Kennedy is that, although he has many bad ideas, not all his ideas are bad. He appears deeply concerned about the staggering rates of chronic disease in this country, and correctly condemns the long-standing failure to meaningfully reform the American food system, which is characterized by a glut of ultra-processed products, owing partly to unhealthful agricultural subsidies. (The U.S. heavily subsidizes commodity crops, such as corn and soy, that often end up as sweeteners and additives.) Kennedy has also railed against gross conflicts of interest in health care and against the malign influence of corporations, especially pharmaceutical companies that aggressively market their products and use dubious tactics to extend patent protections and keep drug prices high.

You don’t get credit for saying that cigarettes cause lung cancer if you’re also at the same time claiming that tea and wifi and contrails cause lung cancer. If you’re a profoundly anti-science conspiratorial wack job, the fact that it’s almost impossible to avoid saying something true if you opine on every subject under the sun does not get you some sort of gold star, except apparently it does from all our elite media.

I just realized what’s going on here, which is that we’re in the your best friend is married to a psychopath who they’re never going to divorce stage of the relationship. Yeah he did that nice thing that one time. It doesn’t count.

Basically nobody really wants to face up to what all this means, which is that our political system is now completely controlled by certifiable lunatics from top to bottom, so everybody has to pretend that there’s a silver lining here. There isn’t.
