Michigan State University has announced the cancelation of all university activities for the next 48 hours following a shooting on campus.
Multiple school districts have canceled classes Tuesday after a deadly shooting on Michigan State University’s campus.
Lansing Public Schools, Okemos Public Schools, Webberville Community Schools, East Lansing Public Schools and Haslett Public Schools announced they have canceled classes on their district websites and social media pages.
Officials say Waverly High School has also canceled classes.

We want to extend our deepest sympathies to everyone affected by the tragedy at Michigan State University. Our thoughts are with you all during these difficult times. In light of this event, and to ensure the safety of our students and staff, we have decided to close all schools on Tuesday 2/14/23. Years ago there was gunfire outside our home. My young daughters moved about expertly blocking the locked doors, staying low as they closed blinds, turned off lights, and urged me to stay on the ground or hide in the bathroom.
They learned that at school. It broke my heart.

This is listed as the “favorite quote” on the just-deleted Facebook page of the likely shooter in last night’s mass shooting at Michigan State University. The page’s author was a 43-year-old man who had a “wellness check” a couple of weeks ago and a concealed weapons charge in 2019. He pled guilty and was sentenced to 12 months probation.

Minutes before Alek Minassian allegedly launched Monday’s deadly attack in Toronto, Canada, he posted to Facebook: “The Incel Rebellion has already begun! We will overthrow all the Chads and Stacys! All hail the Supreme Gentleman Elliot Rodger!”
Police have not yet confirmed any motive for the attack in which he is accused of murdering 10 people but his post on Facebook has drawn new attention to a mass murderer whose crimes inspired a dubious following.
