LGM Film Club, Part 182: Horse Feathers

I confess to not being the biggest Marx Brothers fan. Chaos as comedy is something that has a fairly short shelf life for me. But I have to also confess that the first half of Horse Feathers is pretty hilarious, as I discovered last night when I decided to finally watch this film. Unfortunately, the second half drags, with the three musical numbers screeching the entire proceedings to a halt, as much as watching Harpo play the harp for 3-4 minutes may have some interest to…who exactly? The football scene isn’t as funny as it could be. And there’s an awful lot of sexual harassment in the Marx Brothers comedy. But it was 1932. So that was comedy. Hell, that was comedy in 2012. In any case, a Marx Brothers thread is never going to disappoint commenters.
