House Republicans: “Trump’s new election theft extortion attempts are no worse than his old ones”

Most House Republicans have no problem whatsoever with Trump trying to pressure Georgia’s Secretary of State to steal the election on his behalf:

Rep. Paul Gosar, a conservative Arizona Republican who is joining his colleagues’ effort to overturn the election results on Wednesday, contended that Trump’s call was a simple expression of “enormous frustration.”

“Politically correct speech doesn’t run well,” Gosar said when asked about Trump.Ohio GOP Rep. Jim Jordan, a leader of the congressional effort to overturn the elections, argued that Trump’s call was similar to the impeachment fight and the President’s call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky where Trump asked for an investigation into the Bidens.

“I got no concern,” Jordan said. “But you guys in the press and the Democrats are always going to make a big issue of it just like you did with the call to Zelensky.”

Well, give Jordan this — his “I don’t see the issue with all the ‘politically incorrect’ stuff the Lie-beral Media and Democrat Party seems worried about” extends to many fields — extortion, corruption, election theft, systematic sexual assault.

I particularly enjoyed this:

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the staunchly conservative freshman from Northwest Georgia, told CNN that she is traveling with Trump to the state on Monday. She attacked Raffensperger when asked if she had any concerns about Trump’s call to the Georgia secretary of state.”I think our secretary of state has failed Georgia,” Greene said. “I believe our elections should be decertified.”Asked if doing so would then impact her and other Georgia Republicans, all of whom were elected on the same ballot, Greene said: “We’re just talking about the President’s race.”

I am beginning to think that these claims of election fraud are not being made entirely in good faith.
