I’m not familiar with the vast majority of Burt Reynolds’s work — he made an enormous number of movies, and appeared in many other media as well — but he was a key contributor to two disturbingly great films: John Boorman’s Deliverance (1972), and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Boogie Nights (1997).

(Apparently Reynolds hated Boogie Nights and claimed to have never actually watched the entire thing).

Reynolds was in general an iconic figure from my favorite decade, so I plan to raise a glass tonight to the Coors Cowboy (Not a Coors though. There are limits).
