Your good friends in the Republican Party wish you to know that selecting the man whose formidable campaign skills very nearly allowed him to defeat Bill Richardson in the 2008 primaries and may well have allowed him to beat Paul Simon in the 1988 primaries had he not been forced to withdraw fills them with a sense of hopeless dread.
