One of the most obvious advantages of guaranteed health insurance is that people are no longer bound to their jobs solely because they need the health insurance, but are free to pursue other opportunities, retire early, etc. To Republicans, this is a really bad thing. Because they don’t support “freedom”; they support a minimum of constraints on the most powerful actors in society, which is a massive net loss of freedom for most people.

The “we’re reporting the perception, not the reality” excuse doesn’t even make sense on its own terms, because rhetoric surrounding a CBO is not, in fact, going to affect any national election, and it’s not even going to significantly affect perceptions of the ACA.
