I accept Charles Krauthammer’s invitation to propose a plan as serious as Paul Ryan’s.

The whole column is really a masterpiece of hackery; the fact that Krauthammer’s defense of the Ryan plan consists almost entirely of a defense of completely different plans tells you all you need to know, even before you get to the fact that some of his defenses of the non-Ryan plans are pretty dubious on the merits.
