It’s irrelevant whether Hamas fighters avoided contact with the IDF because of orders, or because they were afraid. The answer, not that it matters, is both; guerrillas should be afraid of conventional soldiers in armored vehicles supported by artillery and air power. War, in spite of the persistent belief of the warblogger caucus, is not about the length of one’s cock. What matters is that Hamas fighters apparently managed to avoid contact with the much more heavily armed IDF, and survive in large numbers. Now maybe, just maybe, the IDF did enough damage to Hamas’ infrastructure to damage the political movement beyond repair, and maybe the people of Gaza will just become tired of Hamas’ shit. I wouldn’t bet on it, though.
