Sometimes I find myself wishing that Josh Marshall would concentrate less on social security and more on all of the other things that he does well. I miss, in particular, his foreign policy commentary. Talking Points Memo was the first blog that I read with any degree of regularity.

Then I think about it some more, and remember that social security really is bigger than any question of foreign policy right now. The harm to Americans cause by killing social security would dwarf the costs of the Iraq war. This is an attempt to transform, even revolutionize, American life. In fifty years Iraq will be history, and we’ll still be living with the costs of the choices we make right now on social security.

So more power to you, Josh. Keep up the good fight.
