Things I never knew about Archie Leach

Three things I didn’t know about Cary Grant:
1. He was more or less homeless by the age of ten. His father forcibly committed Grant’s mother to an insane asylum, told Cary that she was dead, and refused to allow him to live with the father’s new family.
2. He was openly bisexual for much of his life. I guess this is more of a connect-the-dots thing than anything else, but I had not previously been aware of it.
3. He was both an avid user and forceful advocate of LSD. He was using LSD regularly when he made North by Northwest, my favorite Grant performance.
Remarkable actor, remarkable man.
