Goodbye, Edgar
I wept, very briefly, following his finalĀ at bat.
Edgar leaves with a .312 batting average, .419 on base percentage, and .517 slugging percentage. If you’re not familiar, those are all very good. He hit 309 home runs and 515 doubles in his eighteen year career. Were it not for the ineptitude of late-1980s Mariners management, he would be a clear Hall of Famer.
I’d vote for him anyway. A real classy guy. Seattle will miss him, as will baseball fans everywhere.
