Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton during an event over the weekend left the door open to a possible 2020 run, saying that even though she doesn’t want to run, “I’d like to be president.”

Clinton’s comments come as speculation has increased over whether she will launch another bid after the midterm elections.

“Do you want to run again?” Recode’s Kara Swisher asked during a Friday night Q&A with Clinton.

“No,” Clinton replied quickly, sparking laughter from the audience. But when Swisher pressed her further, she added: “I’d like to be president.”

Clinton went on to say that “there’s going to be so much work to be done” after a Democrat “hopefully” wins the next presidential election.

“The work would be work that I feel very well-prepared for having been in the Senate for eight years, having been a diplomat in the State Department,” she said, listing off the qualifications that she often touted during her previous run.

She added that she’s not going to think about a possible run until after the midterm elections next month.

I gather this is causing the usual suspects to go nuts on Twitter (I don’t do Twitter for the same reason I don’t do meth).

For what it’s worth, at this point I’m almost completely indifferent to which Democrat wins the nomination in 2020, because I have yet to develop any strongly held beliefs about which candidate is most likely to win the presidency, and that is literally the only thing I care about.

Donald Trump is 78.3% down the path he’s been following from failed real estate investor/non-stop grifter/reality TV star to fascist dictator of the United States of America. To quibble over whether any of the possible Democratic candidates who could throw a roadblock into that path would be a better president than any other seems like trying to pick the most stylish lifeboat on the Titanic.

That said, I’d like to see HRC become the next president for the same reason I enjoyed watching Ramsay Bolton eaten alive by his own dogs.  I’m not saying this is an admirable impulse, but it’s one I suspect would be very widely shared.

As for the pragmatics of Hillary Clinton running again, I’ll leave that to our commentariat. Again, just win baby.
