The #BasementBill will apparently be altered with a scam to con the gullible:

The newer draft also tweaks eligibility for the tax credit that Republicans are proposing, which would range from $2,000 to $4,000 depending on the beneficiary’s age. It adds a verification process for employed individuals to show that they don’t have access to coverage through their jobs and therefore qualify for the tax credits.

GOP leadership’s decision to prohibit wealthier Americans from receiving tax credits could assuage some Republicans’ concerns about creating a new benefit for rich people.

“I’m not real eager to be providing tax credits to the Warren Buffetts of the United States,” said Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) in an interview this week. “I have a real problem with an open-ended tax credit for insurance that would go to very wealthy individuals.”

If the tax credits aren’t made available to the small number of millionaires who might claim them, then as far as Susan Collins is concerned it’s no taking health care away from millions of people for the benefit of the rich! Except, of course:

Of course, killing off the unneeded $4,000 tax credit for Bill Gates and other billionaires doesn’t change the fact that they’d still receive an average $7 MILLION TAX CUT under the GOP plan, which is the real point of all of this

This tax cuts will be paid for by kicking millions of people off Medicaid, making insurance unaffordable for millions of people, and making insurance worse for tens of millions more. Which is why Republicans don’t want you to see the bill.
