Uhhh, you might want to change the title of the post, unless it’s an indication of how deeply the Trump administration has affected your view of reality.

    • Robert Farley

      • Ruviana

Cool, it’s fixed! Maybe you should be president!

        • John Revolta

Bah. If the President says it’s Friday, it STAYS FRIDAY. Lib.

I bet if the Coast Guard proposed an Ice Breaker that used 16″ cannons to get the job done Republicans would cough up the money in an instant.

OT: James Brown’s drummer, Clyde Stubblefield, died of kidney failure.

    • The Lorax

Saw that. Very sad. He played all over Madison for a long, long time. I saw him play jazz there a few times. What a great drummer.

  • efgoldman

Maybe we should get ice breakers from Russia on a lease back deal through one or another of Cheetoh Combover’s companies. That would make both him and Pootie Patootie happy.
In another 30 or 40 years, we won’t need them anymore, anyway, the way things are going.

  • Christie’s approval rating is down to 17%. Even the wingnuts are starting to turn against him.

Perhaps he’s blazing the trail for Trump.

    • ΧΤΠΔ

It had been in at most the 20s since last year, I believe.

        Isn’t he term-limited anyway?
Still, if he gets bad ratings cooties all over the Republiklowns in the legislature and whoever the nominee for governor is, that’s a good thing.

      • vic rattlehead

I’ve worked in North Jersey the past few years (mostly Hudson, Essex and Bergen counties, based in Newark currently) and even the Republicans I know loathe Christie. I’d love to meet some of the 17%.

I can never get enough Dazzle Camouflage.

John Bolton on deck for National Security Advisor, y’all.

Also being reported, apropos of battleships, that Trumps Navy Secretary is taking a powder.

    • vic rattlehead

I guess the Orange Shart has come around on moustaches?

Good lord. Only Donald Trump could make John Bolton look sane. We’re fucked.

I guess I should actually read the link about China and North Korea. It always bugs me when people act as if China should and could unilaterally fix North Korea. How’s China supposed to dictate to North Korea what to do? Withholding it’s economic support and just letting North Korea collapse? As if China would want to deal with a flood of refugees and a failed state on its border?

At the very least, it’s not as if Korea has had good experiences with anyof its neighbors. Imagine if Mexico was led by a crazy dictator: do you really think that a US unilateral intervention in Mexico (or even US economic pressure) would go over very well? It’d just up support for the dictatorship.

    • Just_Dropping_By

I think the claim is usually that China can unilaterally remove the Kim family from power, which is very different than saying China can unilaterally fix North Korea.

    • Murc

I’m gonna be honest; I get a strong undercurrent of “We have our hands tied by namby-pamby ‘civilized’ warmaking rules, whereas the savage, heathen Chinee do not; they can just hang NK out to dry and machine-gun refugees at the border all day and all night until what’s left of the country collapses, then sweep in and restore order” from a lot of those people.

The Polar Star was featured on a documentary miniseries on the National Geographic Channel about Antarctica not that long back. It had a mechanical issue in one of the episodes. The running commentary among the crew was that it was not long for this world.

Of course why would the government build a new ship to fulfill an immediate need when it can’t even blow shit up?

A small piece of cheering news: Idiot Amin finds new ways to humiliate Chris Christie.

‘‘This is what it’s like to be with Trump,’’ Christie said. ‘‘He says, ‘There’s the menu, you guys order whatever you want.’ And then he says, ‘Chris, you and I are going to have the meatloaf.’’’
