Heckuva Job, CUNY Trustees!
The Pataki-appointed clown chiefly responsible for denying Tony Kushner an honorary degree from John Jay speaks:
But Mr. Wiesenfeld interrupted and said the question was offensive because “the comparison sets up a moral equivalence.”
Equivalence between what and what? “Between the Palestinians and Israelis,” he said. “People who worship death for their children are not human.”
Yes. It’s Tony Kushner who’s lacking in values and ethics. Ellen Schrecker has returned her honorary degree. Katha Pollit writes letters. And good for Ed Koch.
…more from Sarah Wildman.

Here’s the money quote from Dwyers article – it comes at the very end:
“Did Mr. Wiesenfeld see no comparison between what had happened to him and his characterizing of Mr. Kushner’s views without giving his target a chance for rebuttal?
“That’s absurd,” Mr. Wiesenfeld said.”
This from the turd who was Pataki’s political fixer, accused of sticking himself into parole situations.
Might as well just appoint Marty Peretz to the Trustees while they are at it
*Sigh* Another US institution to add to my boycott list.
The CUNY Board could do something stupider, I think. But I’ll be damned if I can figure out what.
(People who (differ from me) are not human)
(defun differ from me (if(
(black (return: don’t work)
or if (palestinian (return: worship death for their children)
or if (muslim (return: want sharia law)
or if (mexican (return: are stealing our jobs)))
What about people who LISP? Are they human?
Koch has also spoken out against Giuliani. He’s getting better in his old age.
It is both somewhat reassuring and frightening to see that these lunatics are not just confined to the wild and desolate Red states. We rational leftists start feeling lonesome out here.
People who can’t point to a successful American third party forget Likud.
OK, that’s going to be yet another line I’m stealing from you, Davis!
I spend my professional day dealing mostly with 9th graders. I am now incapable of any thought that can‘t be reduced to a single sentence.
If I tried to read today the Kant I read thirty years ago, it would kill me. Literally.
This brightened my day:
This year, he is also getting an honorary degree from the New School, and speaking at the commencements of the Columbia University School of the Arts, Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania, and Frank Sinatra High School in Queens, he said.
I looked at their web site and was unable to determine if FSHS allows its students to wear snap-brim hats.
When you are too unhinged about Israel for Ed Koch…well that there my friends is saying something.
You’ll remember this is the same Ed Koch that said that supporting Israel was more important than any domestic political principle when he spoke in support of George W. Bush at the 2004 Republican Convention.
I still haven’t gotten over Vanessa Williams.
Koch nipping at RudyG is legacy-building. Koch telling the truth and being right about CUNY and Weisenfeld should be treated as a Harbinger of the End Times, as wengler noted above.
Fair enough
“People who worship death for their children are not human.”
Don’t tell him about Masada.
