Cruising the blogosphere, checking out the reaction to the 9/11 report. . .

Tacitus has a measured response. He acknowledges that Dick Cheney is a damned liar, but notes that the absence of evidence is not the proof of absence. One of his more astute commenters points out that the absence of evidence is evidence of absence; the fact that we’ve been torturing the senior leaders of Al Qaeda and the senior leaders of Iraq for over a year and that they still haven’t spilled the beans indicates that there probably aren’t any beans.

If you like the stench of desperation, check out Instapundit. Glenn takes comfort in the fact that Tony Blair still believes Iraq and Al Qaeda had some sort of connection, although Glenn should probably pay more attention to his links; even the quoted text doesn’t say that AQ and Iraq had a connection, just that there was an environment in which cooperation might have happened. Strong words. Much better is this link, in which Glenn and buddies claim a) that the report says the opposite of what it actually says, b) that it is all the fault of grandstanding politicians on the commission, c) that it is all the fault of the liberal media, and d) that none of it can be true, because Stephen Hays said so.

No one on the left is particularly notable, for the very good reason that it’s not news; we knew all this a long time ago. Heads up, my conservative brothers: The President has lied to you, and the Vice-President continues to lie to you. Dick Cheney isn’t “mistaken”. He isn’t making ambiguous statements. He isn’t operating off of poor information. He is intentionally telling you falsehoods. When the Vice-President says that a collaborative relationship existed, his intended audience is YOU. He needs you to believe, and he thinks that you’ll keep eating his shit all the way up to election day.

Frankly, I don’t like eating shit at all, which is why I stopped listening a while ago.
