Yevgeny Prigozhin, who owns the Wagner mercenaries that have been fighting against both Ukrainians and occasionally Russian troops, says that Russian troops fired on a Wagner camp, the final straw in Vladimir Putin’s mismanaged war.

Earlier this week, Prigozhin gave an interview in which he was extremely critical of Sergei Shoigu, the Minister of Defense. He’s done that before, but this time he added in some digs against Putin.

Tonight, he threatened to march on Moscow.

It’s hard to know what is going on. Prigozhin is a blowhard and thoroughly dependent on Putin in many ways. His army is 25,000 men, who might be able to defeat the Moscow police, but Putin isn’t likely to let it get to that. There have been questions as to whether the whole feud has been staged to confuse Ukraine and its backers.

It’s impossible to say what’s going on, but something is, very quickly. A selection of tweets which may be outdated by the time I press “Publish.”
