Fact is much weirder, and ultimately more interesting, than fiction.
Weird is one of my favorite English words, especially in its original old form.
“Weird” originally meant “fate” or “destiny”. Derived from the Old English noun wyrd, it was the power to control events. It shifted to mean “strange” because Shakespeare used the “Weird Sisters” (the three Fates) to represent witches in Macbeth, altering the perception of the word.
