Russia’s Gasoline Shortage

Ukraine has been methodically damaging Russia’s oil refineries and storage with drones. Oil and gas infrastructure is an obvious target; it contains its own explosives. With one drone in the right place, a major industrial installation can be destroyed.
At first, Russia could keep up with the damage, but no longer. There are gasoline shortages across the country. More recently, Ukraine has also been attacking bridges and highways to Crimea, adding to the problems there. The bridge across the Kerch Strait can no longer carry heavy vehicles. Traffic jams are reported on all roads out, with civilians trying to evacuate.

Vladimir Putin continues to say that he is confident in Russia’s performance in the war against Ukraine. He seems not to have changed his mind on Ukraine’s proper place as Russia’s vassal, and until he changes his mind, the war will go on.
