Not quite a month ago, we were told that DHS had acquired a mechanism that may be behind “Havana syndrome.” it looked like what psychologists call “priming” to me. Priming is something to stick in your consciousness so that you’ll be influenced by it later. I thought that the point would be to intimidate demonstrators against ICE.
In a teaser for Tom Llamas’s interview of President Trump for the traditional presidential interview for the Super Bowl, Llamas mentioned “The Discombobulator,” which pleased Trump greatly. As usual, Trump had only the most general idea of what it was and covered by saying it was so, so classified,
Now we have a news report based on a single source, one Karoline Leavitt, that an amazing new weapon was used to, um, discombobulate Venezuelans during the Maduro abduction. Vomiting blood, paralyzed, you name it! And a swarm of drones! Seems like we might have heard of this through other sources, given the spectacular effects.
Her boss managed to stomp on the news value of this revelation with his racist posting, but I’m sure there will be another opportunity when the full interview is released. Maybe Barrie Weiss will have a special.
It still can be useful for disrupting demonstrations. Flying a swarm of drones over a group of demonstrators who have been primed to believe they carry a superweapon could be effective. But that depends on getting the story out. I hope that my little contribution here will blunt the effect of those lies.
