Starvation in Gaza

The tide of public opinion in the US seems to be turning against the Israeli government’s use of starvation as weapon to defeat Hamas’s continuing hold on Gaza. Even some of the usual right wing suspects are now objecting to this particular tactic, given that it’s both a particularly horrifying one, and that there’s no reason to believe it will work, if “work” means “eliminate Hamas or some successor to Hamas from continuing to violently resist the destruction of Palestinian nationalism as a political reality.”
The Trump administration would not, I don’t believe, stand in the way of the “evacuation,” as they used to say in German, of Gaza as a whole, but I also don’t believe that public opinion in the world in general, or even in this decadent and degenerate polity, would actually tolerate that in a world in which information and imagery are as difficult for governments to control as they are in 2025. But we are clearly going to find out.
