OK, enough of the nice guy stuff. The response to the LGM fundraiser so far has been…..poor.
The other day, people in comments were discussing the cost of their private planes.
Yeah, I think you can afford to give a little more to keep this thing going.
Listen, do you want this site to exist in its present form or not? Even if we have to have the ads–OK that’s a big ask to get rid of them–do you want this to go Substack? Do you want a subscription fee? This shit costs money. We ain’t getting rich here.
Most of you can afford to make this site run. The comments alone demonstrate this as you talk about the trips and the cars and the planes. PRIVATE PLANES!
If you care so little about liberal commentary on politics and a functional community that you can talk out….whatever you people talk about in these open threads, then I don’t know what to tell you.
Except that you will lose what you have without putting up enough money to cover it.
If you are already a Patreon donor, can you add a bit more to that monthly fee? If you give once a year, can you do just a bit more on that end? If you sell your private plane, can you do that for LGM?
Or perhaps you don’t care about serious foreign policy discussions, one of the only sites on the internet to seriously discuss the labor movement, the legal analysis Scott provides, the pop culture threads, and all the other work we do.
