Well, excluding media witnesses is one way of dealing with the fact that your lethal injection methods have a high likelihood of torturing prisoners to death.
Jones was guilty of a very, very bad crime. He was also the victim of truly horrific abuse as a child, and the system that led to his being singled out for execution is hopelessly discriminatory and arbitrary. Executing him accomplishes nothing except to provide redundant evidence of what Texas Republicans are actually about.
