Tonight’s film is something I dug up the other day. In 1986, TWA flight attendants went on strike when scumbag venture capitalist Carl Icahn bought the company and mandated a 44% wage cut on the attendants because they were women and therefore it was just pin money. This was part of the general unionbusting of the 80s, when it served capital’s interest to force workers on strike so they could bust the union entirely. The great thing about this old labor movie is that Icahn just doesn’t care that he’s an asshole, happily displaying it to the workers protesting at his house. This is a real deep cut. I saw a reference to it somewhere and went searching. Had never even heard of it before. What is definitely not good is the 80s electronic sound effects, but what can you do? It was a different time.
