A reminder that everything Trump says should be considered a lie until proven otherwise

Remember way back a couple of days ago when great outrage was generated by Trump’s reveal that sites of cultural importance were being targeted for attack in Iran? All of that was just a lie:

Sociopaths are difficult to deal with for various reasons, but one of the most striking is that we just can’t get used to the idea that somebody lies about everything all the time, including very important things that can be checked easily, and that therefore make no sense to lie about, even from a purely self-serving perspective.

All of which is to say that, 36 or 38 or 55 months into this, it’s still difficult to accept that Trump is the person he is. Put whatever DSM-V label you want on it: he’s crazy. And not like a fox, either.

People, including his opponents, don’t accept that only because it’s so disturbing. But it’s as obvious as can be. He’s not playing eleventy dimensional chess, he hasn’t hacked US politics with some reality TV schtick that he’s adopted for the purpose: he is sincerely nuts, and he was elected (or “elected”) because this country is a joke. His election to the presidency and his continued occupation of the office both represent complete failures of the American political system.

ETA: Bouie says it better.
