Alas, for all too many MLB umpires this represents an ordinary effort. And the postseason OF umpires go from their typically useless (hello Phil Cuzzi and Richie Garcia!) to become actively counterproductive, as it’s impossible to imagine that particular atrocious call being made by a normal umpire rather than a bored sixth one.
