"Fight like a rock"
Wow. What a maroon. I mean, I know Chris Matthews really enjoyed Bush’s codpiece back in May 2003, but to gush like this over a press conference that offered exactly zero moments of novelty on the subject of Iraq and the Global War Against People Who Resemble in Some Vague Way the People Who Carried Out the 9-11 Attacks . . . well, OK, that’s to be expected from Matthews.
My favorite moment, of course, came when Matthews compared Bush to that “great neo-conservative mind” of Paul Wolfowitz. By sheer coincidence, I began reading Thomas Ricks’ Fiasco yesterday and was struck by the observation by Paul Arcangeli — a former Army medical officer who spent time in Iraq — that Wolfie impressed him as “crack-smoking stupid.”
I’m not sure if that’s what Matthews meant when he predicted Bush will “fight like a rock” from now on, but there you have it.
