Rigged Election

Wow. The Shiite and Kurdish factions seem to have given up on any effort to make the constitutional referendum seem legitimate in Sunni areas.

I’m ambivalent. On the one hand, I don’t tend to approve of electoral nonsense like this. On the other, I’m really unconvinced that there is a constitutional option that all three factions will approve. Given that, you might as well try as hard as possible to make the strongest and largest factions happy.

Somebody is going to be dealing with a Sunni insurgency for a long time.
