A Blueprint For Democratic Dominance: The Prospectus
Peter Beinart’s forthcoming new book, A DLC Bite Of Banality: Why Michael Moore’s Excessive Corpulence Threatens the Democratic Party, apparently rests on 4 earthshattering premises: Dems must show comfort with military power, American power is far more than military power, You can’t fight a global war against totalitarian ideology if you’re weak at home, and Democracy begins at home. For whoever agreed to publish this–and I would suggest that Barnes&Noble skip the middleman and send it right to the remainder tables–I would like to make my own book proposal for how the Dems can win in 2008. I introduce the following themes, which will change the way we look at politics:
- Democratic foreign policy will have to steer a middle course between doing away with the American military and simultaneously invading 75 non-democratic states.
- The next Democratic candidate for President cannot be a Satanist, and should ideally be to the right of Alexander Cockburn and to the left of Orson Scott Card.
- The Democratic Party must be strongly committed to the principle that the United States should remain in the United Nations but not permit it to unilaterally determine American foreign policy.
- Democratic candidates firmly oppose a Taliban takeover of the governments of Turkey, Israel, and Sweden.
- In order to win the presidency, it is imperative that the Democrats win more electoral college votes than the Republicans.
Have your people call my people; I swear, it will be the hottest thing since Bush Country.
