I have been known to mock Instapundit for the near-total lack of substantive political discussion. But if his latest Shill Central Station piece is any indication, it’s for the best. How does Prof. Reynolds propose to “reform” Social Security? Why, the answer couldn’t be simpler:

While people are debating Social Security reform, I want to make a more ambitious proposal: Let’s get rid of Social Security. And let’s do it by making sure that people will live so long that the idea of “retirement” will become largely meaningless.

Oh. So we have a problem with too many “unfunded liabilities.” And the solution is for people to live longer. Because if they live longer their bodies will never break down, and they will never have to stop working. You stick-in-the-mud Luddites stuck with your demands for “evidence” and “logic” will simply never be able to grasp this obvious solution. As for how this will work, consult the forthcoming fourth book of Neal Stephenson’s Wankoffnomicon cycle.

There’s hackwork. There’s bought-and-paid-for hackwork. And then there’s Tech Central Station, which really deserves its own category.
